When I first decided to start a blog I read several books and did a lot of research on the internet. I discovered most of that information presupposed that I knew a lot more about getting started than I did. Often times people who have been doing things for a long time forget what it was like to get started, and while I have found some sites that give a lot of helpful information, I would often end up stuck because of their assumption that something was obvious. Sometimes I would just want to scream at my computer. Maybe you can relate.
I spent two years writing manuals and help screens for a computer programming company. I always tried to write from the perspective of someone who had very little or no previous understanding. I also did the training for companies who purchased the software. This experience has been very helpful in trying to communicate information in a meaningful way. You will find that most of the posts on “How to Start a Blog From Scratch” will contain very specific instruction as well as a multitude of screen shots to help you through the process.
